Profile: Ben Harder is a lecturer in the University of California, Riverside writing program. He received his Ph.D. in English from UCR in 2003. He is active in the classroom, the academy, and the union. Currently, he teaches nine four-unit courses in writing and composition (too many). His research work in composition theory focuses on empowerment and compromise in the multi-cultural composition classroom, while his current literary project examines intersecting and conflicting notions of poetic identity, authority, and aesthetics within contemporary critical practice. He is currently chief negotiator for the lecturers' unit of the University Council of the American Federation of Teachers.
Profile: Sandy is a lecturer in the University Writing Program at UCR. She got her Ph.D. in 1999 from UCR and is the
author of The Metanarrative of Suspicion in Late Twentieth
Century America (Routledge 2004). In her spare time, she edits
CPFA News for the California
Part-time Faculty Association, a non-union organization for
non-tenure-track community college faculty.
