As part of the current Memorandum of Understanding between the University of California and the University Council of the American Federation of Teachers (UC-AFT), UCR has established a Professional Development Fund for all Non-Senate Faculty who are covered by the Unit 18 Contract.
Who is eligible to apply? Any Unit 18 NSF member who has an appointment during the grant period during which the professional development activity takes place is eligible.
What kinds of activities qualify for an award? Professional development activities are broadly defined as all activities and projects of Unit 18 NSF that contribute to members' professional development and effectiveness as teachers and mentors at UCR (see guidelines).
How much money is available? This campus sets aside $21,203 annually during the contract period. Any unused balance is carried forward to the next academic year.
Who makes the award decisions? The Non-Senate Faculty Council on Professional Development, consisting of 5 current NSF members at UCR, reviews applications and makes award recommendations to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, who makes the final award determinations.
